AirShares Elite is gradually transitioning our fleet to SR22 aircraft equipped with the Cirrus Perspective avionics suite and there should be one available for your use in every region by early 2012. Flying this incredible state-of-the-art airplane will require additional training, which can be arranged by contacting AirShares Elite at (800) 482 5411.
AirShares Elite pilots who are checked out and current in the Avidyne SR22 will complete the "Avionics Differences" syllabus, which involves a 3 hour ground lesson and two flight lessons: an introduction to the system, followed by an evaluation to determine readiness for solo VFR operation of the aircraft. Adequate preparation prior to the start of flight training will be essential to making the most of the transition. In addition to the computer-based avionics training program provided, pilots should also review G3 differences using the resources on this site.
6 Months after initial check out: Single-pilot IFR operation in this cockpit will require more extensive training and experience, beginning with completion of the IFR section "Avionics Differences" syllabus six months after the initial VFR checkout. Pilots without prior Garmin G1000 experience will likely experience a steep learning curve on this advanced avionics panel. Most Cirrus pilots report an average of 10-12 hours of flight time to gain an acceptable comfort level with the system to fly it solo IFR. (Some pilots may elect to complete the IFR syllabus at the initial differences training.)
AirShares Elite will be closely monitoring pilot activities and currency in this cockpit to ensure your safety and the protection of this special resource. Actual IFR flight in the Perspective airplanes without an approved AirShares instructor on board is prohibited until a formal IFR checkout is completed.
